So you've revised your CV, and you've spell checked your cover letter and your profiles online are ready to go. You found the job that you want to apply for, and you're ready to press that button. But before you do that, just wait. It's exciting to begin the application process for your dream job, but you want to make sure that you are applying for more than just a job. This isn't just somewhere you can go and earn money and go home again.

You have to consider a new job as somewhere you want to exceed your expectations and excel. You need to be able to know all of the INS and outs of the application process and what is required of you when it comes to accepting said job if you get that far. For example, did you know that a rail industry worker medical is required before you get out there? Did you know that you might need certain licenses and permissions before you work with children? Did you know that you might need to attend a medical if you are going to be on a job that is physically exhausting? There is so much that you have to consider. So here are four things that you should do before you apply for any job.

1) Speak to a coach. If you have the opportunity to speak to a recruiter before you decide to apply for a new job, they would be able to coach you on rewriting your cover letter or restructuring your CV if necessary. By speaking to a coach about your future career, you can also determine whether the job that you're getting excited over really is for you. While you may tick the buttons for qualifications, it doesn't necessarily mean it's the correct job that you should be going for.

2) Think about what you want for your future. Any goals that you may have, both short term and long term, should match your expectations when it comes to applying for a job. If you have goals to work in healthcare, for example, make sure that the job that you're applying for aligns with that goal. You don't want to just choose any industry here, you need to choose one that is piquing your interest.

3) Practice interview questions. A good thing to do before you apply for a new job is to consider what kind of interview questions you may be asked. There are plenty of examples across the Internet of interview questions for every industry, so all you need to do is type in that industry alongside the suffix of industry questions, and you'll be able to find the best options. Practice makes perfect, and knowing what potential questions you could be asked can really help.

4) Take a deep breath. Before you click apply to that new job. You need to take a deep breath and feel that confidence flow through you. This could be the best thing that you do for yourself this year, so be sure before you click that button.
