The Modern Employee Benefits Currently Dominating The Market

Whether you’re looking to attract promising new talent to your team or simply to keep hold of the workers that you have, you often have to look beyond the salary that you’re able to offer. Benefits are more important than ever, and some can have a bigger impact than others. As such, we’re going to look at some of the benefits, beyond the traditional provisions like healthcare and retirement, that you should consider providing.
The Financial Side Of Things
Money truly does talk. While pension plan contributions should be considered essential for attracting decent employees, there are other financial benefits that you can focus on, as well. This can include in-built bonus schemes, financial support with tuition and training schemes, or even access to financial wellness programs that can help employees manage their money more effectively.
Give Them Some Freedom
Freedom over their work environment and means of working can mean a lot, especially to younger employees, who are trending a little more individualistic. The most extreme example of this is a remote or hybrid work scenario, but even a BYOD policy, or allowing employees control over customizing and personalizing their workspace, can be a good shout, as well.
Managing The Commute
Never underestimate just how much the commute to a job can make or break an employee’s experience. There are plenty of ways to help with this, whether it’s by providing financial support for accessing transportation hubs, or even providing a salary sacrifice car lease, or you provide pay for the time that they spend on the commute, as well. If you’re hoping to attract employees who are willing to make the distance to reach work, then you have to recognize that it is a real ask and provide the means to help them manage it.
Contributing To A Healthy Lifestyle
Given how much time our work can take up, it can be challenging for the modern worker to also find the time to manage a healthy life. As such, benefits that you can provide to make managing that all the easier can make a big difference. This can include access to an office gym or just partnering with a local gym to access discounts for your employees. Healthy eating options in or near the office can be a draw, as well.
Career Growth Is A Must
Few people are willing to take a job with the understanding that they’re going to be in the exact same position in five years’ time. As such, make sure that career growth is baked into what you offer, whether it’s through access to training and development programs, or an internal mentoring scheme that makes sure that your junior workers are always learning from those above them.
Finding the right combination of benefits can help make your offers to potential and current employees far too good to ignore. Which works best for your team will depend on factors such as average age, location, and likely family needs, so do your research to work out the specifics.
